Hardware Guide

Wi-Fi

A strong, reliable Wi-Fi connection is essential for keeping your Beamy system running smoothly. Every component of your ecosystem, from POS stations to printers and payment terminals, relies on consistent network access.

We strongly recommend using a commercial-grade router. While basic home routers might work in the short term, they often lead to dropouts or connectivity issues that can disrupt service.

Here are some best practices:

  • Place the router in a central location to provide even coverage throughout your site.
  • Use a dedicated Wi-Fi network for Beamy devices only. Avoid using public or guest networks to reduce interference and maintain stability.
  • Ensure your internet connection has full access with no firewall or port restrictions that could block device communication.

Key Requirements

  • All Beamy devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network
  • Full internet access with no restrictions
  • A strong, consistent signal across your entire site
  • Network reliability is critical—avoid temporary hotspots

Tablets

Beamy is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

iOS Devices

Apple has ended support for iOS 12, so we recommend using a device running iOS 14 or higher to ensure ongoing compatibility with future features and updates.

Cables & Chargers

To avoid disruptions, we recommend assigning a dedicated charger and cable to each tablet. Keeping devices plugged in ensures they’re fully powered and ready to go each morning and no scrambling during a rush.

Printer

Beamy integrates seamlessly with Brother label printers, offering a paperless and efficient kitchen and service flow.

EFTPOS Machines

Beamy currently supports integration with the following payment providers:

  • Eftpos New Zealand
  • Stripe
  • Centrapay
  • Verifone

Choose the provider that best fits your business needs.

Additional Hardware

  • Cash Drawer: Beamy does not currently support automatic cash drawer integration. You’re free to use a manual cash drawer as required.
  • Tablet Stands: For safety and ease of use, we recommend a sturdy, purpose-built stand for each tablet to prevent damage from drops or movement.

A reliable hardware setup is the foundation of a smooth and stress-free service environment. Get your gear right, and everything else will follow.
